MAC Heroine Lipstick Available Now Online!

If you follow MAC via social media, chances are you've heard the news by now but, for those that haven't, one of MAC's most famous lipsticks is not only making a much needed and wanted comeback, it is now slated to join the permanent line! I'm talking about the gorgeous, in your face violet known as Heroine. This lipstick made its first debut with MAC's Reel Sexy collection last year and made another appearance in April of this year with Fashion Sets. I think I can speak for most of us when I say, we definitely haven't gotten our fill of this shade yet! Luckily, she's back just in time for the holidays.

As of this morning, Heroine is now available on the website! Get yours before it sells out!

MAC Retro Matte Collection Swatches

"Inspired by Ruby Woo's overwhelming popularity and one-of-a-kind texture, MAC introduces new bold shades in its Retro Matte finish. Eye-catching colours like Dangerous and All Fired Up create a look that's fiercely feminine. MAC also premieres Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in a vibrant colour palette, giving this long-lasting and transfer-proof lip pencil an exhilarating makeover."

As you lovelies know, I am a complete and utter sucker for a good matte lip so, for MAC to release an entire matte collection is seriously one of the best things I could ask for! I ventured to my local MAC the day of release (September 12th) to get my paws on a couple of new lipsticks as well as to get swatches of everything; I ended up purchasing a few goodies by the names of, Fixed On Drama, All Fired Up, and the iconic Ruby Woo.

Admittedly, I was a complete retro matte noob before this date, I had never tried the formula before but I must say it is to die for! It. does. not. budge. and coupled with my trusty Prep + Prime makes for some seriously bulletproof lip wear. If you enjoy a super matte lip, definitely do not hesitate to give this finish a try.

I will be posting full reviews of my new lipsticks very soon but, until then, enjoy the swatches!

L to R lipsticks: All Fired Up, Flat Out Fabulous, Dangerous, Fixed On Drama, Relentlessly Red, Runway Hit, & Ruby Woo (Steady Going was missing from the display).

T to B pencils: More To Love, High Energy, Fashion Boost, In Anticipation, Dynamo, Trust In Red, Shock Value, Kiss Me Quick

Even though I didn't purchase any of the lip pencils, I can already see that these babies are FANTASTIC; I put a bit of elbow grease into removing the swatches and some of the shades still left a faint stain.

September 12th was also the release date for the new Viva Glam 1 lipglass so I ended up swatching it as well.

Now, as I said in my Retro Matte press release post, there is still a huge discrepancy over what is limited edition and what's permanent in this collection. I've heard everything from nothing being limited and everything being permanent to only certain shades being limited and back again. Even MAC officials are giving conflicting information depending on who you ask, but as of right now, the MAC website has listed Steady Going, Runway Hit, Fixed On Drama, and Fashion Boost as being limited edition.

MAC Viva Glam I - The Original Collection

From the MAC Website:

"The original VIVA GLAM girl is back! Fabulous, chic and utterly outrageous. The electric RuPaul, first face of VIVA GLAM in 1994, now returns with her sexy signature burgundy red Lipstick and a new Lipglass, universal in glamour and appeal."

If you're a fan of MAC, then chances are you've heard of their famous Viva Glam series. Since 1994, MAC has created ten Viva Glam additions. Nineteen years and a plethora of celebrities like Cindi Lauper, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Boy George, and currently Nicki Minaj; it seems that Viva Glam is going strong and here to stay. Now, if you haven't heard of the line, you may be wondering just what the difference is between this and any other MAC release. Well, Viva Glam is more than just pretty shades of lipstick and lipglass; along with the line comes the MAC Aids Fund. With every Viva Glam purchase, 100% of the sale price goes to helping those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. You can find out more about this cause here.

Even though I am a sucker for a red lip, I never got around to trying VG 1 (or any other VG for that matter) outside of a hand swatch on one of my MAC adventures, so the most I can say is that it is a gorgeous satiny red.

I like that MAC is bringing back one of their "originals" as whether you are a new MAC lover or you and the brand go way back, this is a way for the company to not only introduce a new product but it is also giving one of their most iconic products a much needed reboot. With the steady stream of collections and products that MAC releases every year, it can be hard to keep up with the classics.

It wouldn't be a proper collection unless we got to see a new product so with the re-promote of the VG 1 lipstick comes the new VG 1 lipglass. I have yet to try one myself but from what I've heard of the MAC Lipglasses, they are rich, pigmented, glosses that can be opaque on their own or used to add an extra pop to a lipstick. Whether you love red lips or you just love the fabulous RuPaul, these two products definitely might be worth purchasing, and the best part is, all the while you will have helped a great cause.

MAC Retro Matte Collection - Available Now

From the MAC Website:

"Inspired by Ruby Woo's overwhelming popularity and one-of-a-kind texture, MAC introduces new bold shades in its Retro Matte finish. Eye-catching colours like Dangerous and All Fired Up create a look that's fiercely feminine. MAC also premieres Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in a vibrant colour palette, giving this long-lasting and transfer-proof lip pencil an exhilarating makeover."

Dangerous - Orange-y Red (Retro Matte)

All Fired Up - Bright Fuchsia (Retro Matte)

Flat Out Fabulous - Bright Plum (Retro Matte)

Ruby Woo - Vivid Blue Red (Retro Matte) (Re-promote/Permanent)

Fixed on Drama - Rich Wine (Retro Matte)

Staunchly Stylish - Pink Beige

Shock Value - Bright Pink Cream

More to Love - Intense Bluish Pink

Fashion Boost - Bright Purple Cream

Long gone are the days of breaking out the ole' makeup pouch to constantly reapply...and reapply...and ahem, reapply your lipstick after the tiniest sip of water to the biggest meal. Finally, after waiting for what seems like forever, MAC is releasing an all matte lip collection with new shades that have me officially jumping up and down (and no, I am not kidding...okay maybe I didn't quite JUMP but I did produce a very odd squeal of delight). How GORGEOUS are these shades? As a matte lip girl at heart, you KNOW that I am ALL over this collection. I personally have my eyes fixed on, Fixed On Drama (see what I did there? Okay, you're right..that was terrible) which from the swatches I've seen is an absolutely stunning deep brownish wine shade. Dangerous is quite the gorgeous shade as well but reminds me too much of Lady Danger and Scarlet Ibis, both of which I already own. Can one really own too many orange-y red lipsticks? I plead the fifth.

If you're not sure of the difference in formula, retro mattes have a much drier texture compared to the regular matte lipsticks which have a slight sheen, in turn this makes them incredibly long lasting. While I personally have never tried the retro matte texture before, a la the famous Ruby Woo (shocker right?) I know from reviews that these little bullets pack an amazing punch.

Now unfortunately, there seems to be a huge discrepancy on whether this entire collection is permanent or whether some items are limited edition. MAC officials, those with sources close to MAC, as well as MAC employees are all giving conflicting information. It is because of this that I advise anyone that plans on making a purchase from this collection to treat it as limited edition until we know more.
Available in stores September 12th

New OCC Collections Available Now!

Oh OCC, why must you do this to me? (Hey that rhymed!). As you might have read awhile back, lip tars hold a special place in my heart as it was back in February that I found my very first, perfect, holy grail, STOP! Look at my lips! red by the name of NSFW. I have not purchased any lip tars since then but it is certainly not because I haven't felt the itch, it is simply "Hey lady use up some of those lipsticks that you already own!". Now, OCC is back with two new collections, ModernCraft & Fragmented Alice and true to form, both collections are keeping tradition alive with the odd and oh so fabulous shades that OCC is known for.

My favorite shade by far is Sebastian, which is a matte lilac tinted grey/taupe that I am absolutely coveting! You know a color looks amazing when it makes me completely bypass the reds! Since I am a matte lip girl at heart, I cannot wait to see how the new matte texture compares to the satiny texture of NSFW. Unfortunately, it seems that none of the Sephora's in my area will be carrying this collection so I will have to wait just a little bit longer to get my hands on Sebastian!

As for Fragmented Alice, while I personally don't think I could pull it off, Fragmented is positively gorgeous! I expect all of the new shades to look even more amazing in person and I cannot wait to see more photographs and swatches of both collections.

ModernCraft Lip Tar Collection:

"OCC's Fall 2013 Colour Collection, Moderncraft, was inspired primarily by cabarets and the art scene born out of 1920s Weimar, Berlin. Rather than revisit makeup trends of the past, Moderncraft reinterprets and revitalizes this iconic look through a veritable artists' paint box of Lip Tar, in a variety of textures and colors. The Moderncraft Collection marks the first time OCC has launched new shades in all three texture categories: matte, metallic, and stained gloss. Whether you're moved by the transparent neutrality of 'Mein Herr' Lip Tar: Stained Gloss or driven by the seductively dark and industrial 'Black Metal Dahlia' Lip Tar: Metallic, a world of makeup expressionism awaits."

Role Play - Deep Maroon w/ Red Pearl (Metallic)

Anita - Browned Burgundy (Matte)

Black Metal Dahlia - Blackened Burgundy w/ Red Pearl (Metallic)

Dekadent - Translucent Crushed Blueberry (Stained Gloss)

Sebastian - Plum-toned Taupe (Matte)

Mein Herr - Creme Fraiche Beige (Stained Gloss)

$18.00 // 0.33 oz

Available NOW at Sephora.com & select Sephora locations. Available September 6th at occmakeup.com

Fragmented Alice Collection

"Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics journeys into the depths of Wonderland with renowned Symbolist painter Gail Potocki for a truly psychedelic color collection. Inspired by Potocki's uniquely macabre take on the Alice in Wonderland™ mythology, OCC conjures up a limited edition collection full of curious colors inspired by the world of 'Fragmented Alice'. Attendees to the world's largest pop culture event San Diego Comic Con were granted a preview of the collection via 'Fragmented' Lip Tar, a first-of-its-kind acid-green glaze that marries two of our favorite textures together: Metallic and Stained Gloss!"

Fragmented - Golden Acid Green Metallic (Stained Gloss)

Gryphon - Cement Grey (Satin)

Severed - Bright Crimson (Satin)

Curved Sky - Icy White/Iridescent Blue-Violet

Infliction - Patinaed Pink Opal

Nevar - Dirty Golden Olive

MAC RiRi Woo Launches @ 12pm EST!

Hey lovelies! The time is finally here and the much anticipated Rihanna version of MAC's famous Ruby Woo lipstick is about to launch! You can check out my first post detailing the collaboration here. In short, Rihanna has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to release a whopping FOUR collections (thirty-one products in total) throughout 2013 to coincide with her latest tour. With a little bit a lot of lurking I was able to track down an early swatch for RiRi Woo and so far...I am quite unimpressed, see for yourself below! RiRi Woo launches online & at Rihanna concerts on May 2nd!

While the lipstick is undeniably gorgeous (for those that love reds) I can't help but think, how does it look any different from Ruby Woo? I do not yet have Ruby Woo in my collection but from what I can tell, the color looks identical and the ONLY difference seems to be the special stamping on the bullet. This is a major let down for me as I was really looking forward to this lipstick but, as of right now, I'm going to pass on this one.

Retail: $15

RiRi Woo is now officially SOLD OUT until June

MAC All About Orange Collection Launching Soon!

"Orange. Its vibrant energy and modern edge ignites fashion and beauty big time in Korea, the rest of Asia and the world. It's one of the new global super shades that pops with sizzle and cool sophistication. M∙A∙C translates the trend with international impact into a colour collection for face, lips and nails." - MAC website

Hi lovelies!! I know that I've failed to post about the last few MAC releases but, I learned about this upcoming collection a few days ago and could NOT resist posting; I almost leaped out of my chair when reading about it..okay not really but you get my point. My first thought was "mother of god, imagine the lipsticks" because as you might know by now, Scarlet Ibis has me hooked and captivated by makeup of the orange variety. I have quickly learned that orange shades, especially reddened orange is most flattering to my warm skin tone. However, I often look past that and wear whatever the hell I want. Oh Scarlet Ibis..why couldn't you be included? I am completely disappointed to find that there is not a single matte lipstick in this collection but, thankfully I have fallen in love with Neon Orange and will absolutely be picking it up; Sushi Kiss has me intrigued as well. Overall, everything looks beautiful so far and I am over the moon that MAC decided to release this collection since orange is a color that quite a few people shy away from; beyond excited here!! This collection will be launched June 6th and available both in stores and online.

Lipsticks:

Tarte & Trendy - Bright neutral orange cream (Lustre)
Neon Orange - Bright orange (Amplified Cream): Re-promote
Flamingo - Light milky bright coral (Lustre): Re-promote
Sushi Kiss - Mid-tone coral cream (Satin)
Sweet & Sour - Soft peach cream (Cremesheen)
Tangerine Dream - Warm orange cream (Lustre)
Razzlerdazzler - Light cream peach (Lustre): Re-promote

Cremesheen Lipglass:

Double Happiness - Frosted light nude: Re-promote
Imperial Light - Frosted light peach: Re-promote
Rising Sun - Frosted bright orange: Re-promote

Powder Blushes:

Royal Sunset - Soft cool peach (Satin)
Honey Jasmine - Soft warm coral (Satin)
Immortal Flower - Bright peach (Satin): Re-promote

Rainy Season Eyeshadow Quad:

Arctic Grey - Frosted mid-tone grey (L)
Courtly Grey - Matte cool grey (M)
Typographic - Asphalt black (M)
Rainy Season - Light warm grey frost (S)

Nail Lacquers:

Morange - Bright cream orange (Cream): Re-promote
Fiestaware - Mid-tone orange coral (Cream): Re-promote
Sweet Pop - Peach cream (Cream)
Ke Ai - Soft pink frost (Frost)

Big thank you to Specktra for the collection info & photos!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them here so I won't but, there are early swatches of the Royal Sunset & Honey Jasmine blushes as well as all seven of the lipsticks on the Specktra forum; Enjoy!

MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick

MAC is releasing a new line of lipsticks today (in stores March 7th) These lipsticks are called Mineralize Rich and are a bit different from your standard MAC lipsticks. The first feature that you'll notice right off the bat is the different and bit larger shape of the tube; the bullet itself is also larger which MAC claims to help deliver better coverage in fewer strokes.

From the MAC website: "Introducing a new Mineralize masterpiece for lips with a luxurious, lightweight formula enhanced with 77-Mineral Moist complex for nutrient-rich moisture. The impact is instant - softer, smoother, more supple lips"

There are 12 new shades available in this line including four nudes, a few reds and a few very spring inspired colors. A couple of the new shades catch my eye like Everyday Diva, Style Surge and Lady At Play but nothing looks especially unique and as a girl who prefers matte lip colors, I probably won't be picking these up. If I do decide to drop the extra $7 for these I will most definitely be posting a review! These lipsticks are now part of MAC's permanent line.

These lipsticks retail for $22 // 0.14oz

Traditional MAC lipsticks are $15 // 0.10oz

You can check out these lipsticks and purchase here

RiRi Hearts MAC!

Awesome news for all of the Rihanna lovers out there, throughout 2013 Rihanna will be collaborating with MAC to release four collections, my guess will be one per season. The most exciting news of all is the special re-vamped Ruby Woo lipstick, entitled "RiRi Woo". Since I do not yet have Ruby Woo in my collection, I'm seriously excited to see how RiRi Woo will turn out, if this is the lipstick pictured in the photo above, it looks like a gorgeous blackened red.

As far as I know, the upcoming collection pieces will be available both online and her concerts, I'm not sure yet if anything will be available in MAC stores but, any new information that I find out will be added to this post. As of right know, I know that the collections will include RiRi Woo + additional lipsticks, luster drops, blush, a special RiRi Woo lipglass, eyelashes, eyeshadows and nail lacquers for a total of 31 products.

Personally, I can't wait for RiRi Woo, if it does turn out to be a blackened red and not a plum color. I cannot wait! Look for the first release, which will be the RiRi Woo lipstick in May, available online and at upcoming concerts.

Update: RiRi Woo will be sold in all four collections, so don't fret because you will have multiple chances to pick it up.

Update: Two collections WILL be available in store. The other two will be available online.

MAC Marilyn Coming Back?

News has never made me so happy! Is it true? (Cue shameless Kel Mitchell orange soda love) Well, sources over at Specktra (specifically Mac-Guy) have posted that MAC may be/will be releasing Marilyn again sometime later this year. As of right now I have no idea whether these will be all new items or the same items from the first collection but, you can be sure that I will be all over any new info that comes out. Personally, if this collection does indeed happen I would LOVE to see Scarlet Ibis again since that is my all time favorite lipstick (You can never go wrong with back-ups!). I have faith in MAC that this will turn out to be an all new collection, MAC is known for re-promotes but I doubt they would release the same collection twice. Who knows? If they decide to release Marilyn Part 2 and go with creating all new products, what colors and products would you like to see? Comment below!

I will be updating this post as new info becomes available

Big thanks to Specktra and Mac-Guy for this info!

MAC Archie's Girls - Update

Hey lovelies! In case anyone is currently waiting for me to do a review on anything from this collection, I won't be. I went to MAC on the 7th (release date) to check out everything from the collection and I even planned on purchasing Veronica's Ronnie Red lipstick but, it turned out to be extremely similar to Absolute Power from the strength collection, just as I had feared it would. So because of that, it just wasn't worth buying for me since the two lipsticks are basically dupes in my eyes, the difference is just noticeable. I strongly encourage anyone that missed out on Absolute Power to pick up Ronnie Red.

Sadly, I don't have any pictures of the MAC's in store Archie's Girls setup whatsoever. By the time I got to the mall my phone had died :( Everything was extremely cute though, they definitely went all out. From workers wearing special tee shirts to even a few special tables, it was all setup quite nicely! Once again, well done MAC.

I am quite disappointed though, I was really looking forward to this collection ever since it was first announced. I can't wait to see posts and pictures from my fellow bloggers though because even though the collection just didn't suit me, I can't wait to see it on you all!

Check out my review on Absolute Power here

I will be updating this post as I found out more information!

MAC Strength Collection "Absolute Power" Lipstick - A Review

When MAC first announced this collection, I knew I was going to be all over it. I've been looking for a great matte red lipstick for awhile now and this one seemed to fit everything I was looking for. The other lipsticks in this collection were gorgeous but I knew I wouldn't give them the proper wear that they deserved so I skipped them. MAC describes this color as a "rich red". It's not quite the bright snow white-esque lipstick that I was looking for but more so a very pink toned red. I love it none the less.

The Strength Collection is described as "Colour is a vehicle for women to flex their femininity, and MAC's new Strength Collection reflects this state of mind and style. It starts with dramatic eyes and lips pumped up with vivid colour to project power while cheeks are softly chiseled with natural tones. And, nailing it for overall presentation, MAC's high-gloss Nail Lacquer"

I had a bit of trouble tracking this lipstick down even though I bought it the night of release because there seemed to be a mix up on what locations this collection was actually shipped to. After much irritation, I finally walked away with my lipstick. My favorite part about this lipstick is the texture! Even though it's matte, it's very creamy and glides onto my lips with ease. Once applied, the color leaves a subtle sheen/gloss that lasts for just a little bit before it dries down to a true matte finish. Worn alone, with no lip primer or lip liner, this color lasted about 2-4 hours before it wore down and became a bit dull. The stain it left however, lasted for much much longer, until the next day in fact. When paired with MAC's Prep + Prime Lip and a little lip liner, the color stayed at full opacity from day to night with me having to re-apply nothing. I do like this lipstick and I'm happy that I purchased it but my search for the perfect red still continues.

This lipstick retails for $15.00//3g of product

Marilyn Monroe M.A.C Collection "Scarlet Ibis"

Like many others, I absolutely adore Marilyn. So of course, once M.A.C announced this collection I HAD to have a few items from it. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to purchasing until this Saturday 10/6 and because of that almost everything was sold out. But, just by sheer luck I was able to get the exact lipstick that I had wanted, which, at the end of the day is all that matters right?

Let me present Scarlet Ibis from the Marilyn collection (it is actually a re-promote from a collection earlier this year) I absolutely ADORE this shade. It is a beautiful reddened orange. The color itself is entirely opaque and can be worn full on or sheered out for an absolutely gorgeous tint. The color is matte, and because of that leaves a stain on the lips which lasted on me even after eating, drinking and taking a little nap (no joke here) I've come to find that less is more with this shade and seems to last incredibly long when used sparingly. The only downside for me is that I only purchased one so I almost don't want to use it!

What I love about this collection overall is that to me, it truly speaks Marilyn. Everything in the collection is actually like what she wore in real life. All of the colors are very subtle, very neutral and natural with just the right amount of glam.

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring" - Marilyn Monroe

Update: The absolute PERFECT lip liner for this is NYX Slim lip pencil in the color "Pumpkin"
